Everyone has a natural lens inside the eye. This lens is transparent and elastic. Every time we look near and far, this lens changes shape thanks to its flexibility and focuses on the distance being looked at.\u00a0Thus, both far and near are seen clearly.<\/strong><\/p>

As we get older, the natural lens in our eyes first loses its flexibility, becomes unable to change its shape when looking close up, and becomes unable to focus close up. At a later age, it loses its transparency and cataracts form.<\/p>

Our own lens, which usually loses its flexibility after the age of 40, can be replaced with a new one. Instead of the natural lens that loses its properties and deforms, that is, wears out\u00a0Smart Lens<\/strong>\u00a0(intraocular lens) is implanted. This new lens is now capable of focusing both far, intermediate and near,\u00a0provides a clear view at any distance<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>

How is Smart Lens (Intraocular Lens) Operation?<\/strong><\/p>

Two eyes are operated on different days. There is a break of a few days or 1 week between the two eyes depending on the patient's conditions. The procedure takes about 10 minutes for each eye. The eyes are numbed with eye drops. There is no general anesthesia (except in special cases), stunning or overnight stay in the hospital. It is a painless operation. The natural lens inside the eye is removed and placed\u00a0smart intraocular lens<\/strong>\u00a0is put on. After the surgery, the eye is covered with a bandage, the patient goes home, the eye remains closed that night and the bandage is removed by the physician during the follow-up the next day.\u00a0The patient starts to see on the same day<\/strong>\u00a0and return to normal life.<\/p>

The same procedure is applied to the other eye in a few days. Apart from using drops for a while, weekly and monthly controls are performed.<\/p>

What is the Importance of Multifocal Lens, i.e. Smart Lenses?<\/strong><\/p>

In the eyes\u00a0<\/strong>provide clear vision at near, far and intermediate distances and\u00a0lifetime smart lens<\/strong>\u00a0known as<\/p>

The most important feature of smart lenses is their clarity at intermediate distances<\/strong>. Clear vision is also achieved at distances where the quality of vision is most important, such as the distance of computer use, the distance of television viewing, the distance of access to the kitchen counter.<\/p>
